While some law firms shy away from advertising, Rainwater Holt & Sexton PA has embraced it. “We take the position of there’s nothing wrong with advertising at all for any type of business,” said Rick Gunther, the firm’s chief financial officer. “Advertising has helped us tremendously grow our practice.”

The firm has an affiliation with the University of Arkansas. “Our tag line is, ‘Injury lawyers serving the Razorback Nation,’” Gunther said. “The reason we do that is we’re trying to position ourselves as an Arkansas institution.”

Rainwater Holt & Sexton touts itself as Arkansas’ largest personal injury firm with 23 attorneys and 105 employees.

The firm was started in 2006 by three partners, Mike Rainwater, Stephen Holt and Bob Sexton. Holt died in 2014. Its several practice areas include bankruptcies, Social Security disability and workers’ compensation. In addition to Little Rock, the firm has offices in Conway, Fayetteville and Hot Springs.

Gunther said that if the firm doesn’t recover money for the clients, “they owe us nothing.” If the firm wins a payment, it receives 35 percent of the amount.

In 2014, its revenue jumped 18.9 percent from the previous year, and in 2015, revenue was up another 12.5 percent. Gunther said the firm works in the states surrounding Arkansas, but doesn’t have an office outside of the state — yet. He said the firm plans to open an office outside of Arkansas “within the next two years or so. … We’re very conservative in our growth.”

Outside of its law practice, the firm has partnered with KATV-TV, Channel 7, in Little Rock for the Spirit of Arkansas Award that goes to a nonprofit organization.

The management philosophy of the firm is simple, he said. “What we try to push is: service to our clients, excellent legal representation and ethically doing everything the right way.”
