The population of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway metropolitan statistical area grew 5.5 percent from 2010 to 2017, reaching about 747,000 in 2018, according to Metroplan, the central Arkansas planning agency.
That 5.5 percent rate is the U.S. average and just below the average 6 percent rate for U.S. metro areas with populations from 500,000 to 1 million. The information comes from Metroplan’s recently released “Metro Trends: Demographic Review and Outlook.”
Growth in the region has slowed compared with the previous decade. All nine of the area’s largest cities except for North Little Rock and Jacksonville grew more slowly in 2000-2010 compared with 2010-2018.
