Did you know the world’s largest retailing chain received some love from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation?
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville was recognized for having the “Best Economic Empowerment Program.”
The Corporate Citizenship Award was given for the company’s strategy to empower women with its commitment “to source from women-owned businesses (WOBs) and to train female suppliers to help grow and develop their enterprises.”
According to the foundation’s award info, Wal-Mart has sourced more than $16.4 billion in products and services from WOBs and has trained more than 762,000 women around the world since 2012.
