Drum roll, please: Jason Brown has been promoted to public relations director at The Communications Group.
Brown, who in his “second life” is a drummer in a blues band, was named to the position Tuesday by ComGroup President Dan Cowling. He’ll manage the Little Rock firm’s public relations staff and services, taking over for Lisa Van Hook, a partner in the firm whose new title is director of client services.
A University of Arkansas at Little Rock graduate, Brown has been at ComGroup for six years, and as a public relations specialist has served clients like the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board, Better Beginnings and Clean Line Partners.
“This is a transition that will happen smoothly,” Brown told Arkansas Business by phone from a material handling trade show in Chicago, where he was representing Toyota forklifts. “I’ve still got great support from Lisa, who is a 20-year public relations practitioner.”
The agency’s press release included the nugget about Brown’s drumming, noting that he plays in a group called Brown Soul Shoes.
“We have been playing around town for about eight years. It’s a blues/funk/soul band that mostly does weddings and corporate events these days,” Brown said. “But it keeps me sane.”
