The Arkansas Community Foundation is challenging people to donate $25 or more online from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday to the 900-plus nonprofits from across the state that are participating in its ArkansasGives event.
This year’s one-day goal is $5 million and half that, $2.5 million, was raised in the first four and a half hours.
The nonprofits also have the chance to earn bonus dollars from a $400,000 bonus pool provided by the foundation. Each of them will receive a percentage of the bonus that matches the percentage it received of the total amount that is raised online.
An additional $60,000 in prizes from First Security Bank and $10,000 in prizes from Jane Hunt Meade will be awarded to the nonprofit that receives the most money and has the most donors by size and service categories.
In the past two years, more than $6 million has been raised through the fundraiser.
