Cornerstone Bank Changes Name

1 min read

The pending name change of Cornerstone Bank in Eureka Springs is now official. The $401 million-asset lender became CS Bank on Nov. 18.

The new name was adopted in advance of the bank expanding across the Missouri state line into the neighboring $791 million-deposit Barry County market.

None of the current seven competing banks in that market bears the Cornerstone name. The change was made out of consideration for the $154 million-asset Corner Stone Bank of Southwest City, Missouri.

CS Bank hopes to have a temporary branch open in Cassville, Missouri, by Jan. 31 at the southwest corner of Highways 76 and 37.

The plan is to get a permanent, full-service branch built and open across the highway on the northwest corner, ideally before the end of 2021.

“We’ve joked about it being the longest planned branch in banking history,” said Charlie Cross, CEO of CS Bank. “It’s taken some time to navigate the name change and get the temporary branch open.”

Founded as Bank of Eureka Springs in 1912, Cornerstone entered its corporate nomenclature in 2008. With the change to CS Bank, there are 14 banks sporting the Cornerstone or Corner Stone name in 14 states: Nebraska, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Illinois, California, Kansas, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Georgia, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Virginia, Iowa and Missouri.
