Department of Arkansas Heritage Puts Down Roots Near River

1 min read

Perhaps you knew that the Department of Arkansas Heritage intends to develop a 30,000-SF headquarters in downtown Little Rock.

Toward that end, the agency assembled a 4.5-acre location on the banks of the Arkansas River in two transactions totaling $2.3 million. The sellers were the Hoffman Family LLC and 1010 North Street LLC, both led by Steve Hoffman.

The purchase includes the 6,798-SF Muswick warehouse at 1100 North St. and a 1,134-SF law office building at 1120 North St.

The property adjoins the department’s collections warehouse at 1000 LaHarpe Blvd., which was developed as temporary archive storage for the Clinton Presidential Library during its construction.

The new quarters would also house the Arkansas Arts Council, the Arkansas Department of Historic Preservation and the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission.

The future migration tally of state staffers numbers about 120, now working out of three floors of the Tower Building at 323 Center St.
