Today’s Power Inc. has reached an agreement to provide two-250 kilowatt AC solar arrays for Electric Research & Manufacturing Cooperative (ERMCO) at its transformer manufacturing facility in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
“This project provides a cost effective solar power option that adds an environmentally friendly energy resource for our business,” said Kent Raffath, senior vice president of finance for ERMCO. “Our customers will benefit from the energy produced at the facility in the form of price stability for a portion of ERMCO’s electricity needs for the next 25 years.”
The solar energy produced by the systems will be used to produce transformers at the facility.
“This utility-scale, solar power generation facility will be installed behind the meter and consumed directly by the transformer factory,” Bill Reffert, president and CEO of ERMCO, said in a news release “ERMCO has a long-standing commitment to contributing to the success of our partner communities. Providing solar energy resources in our community is another way of showing that commitment.”
Today’s Power, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc. of Little Rock. The utility service cooperative is owned by 17 Arkansas electric distribution cooperatives.
According to Michael Henderson, president of TPI, the project is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
Henderson said the 250-KW Reflect system will include about 840-400 watt panels and 840 Reflector panels and produce about 12.5 million kWh’s over a 25-year life. The 250 KW DUO system will include about 960-400 watt back-to-back panels and produce about 12.2 million over a 25-year life.
