Ex-Marion County Airport Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Embezzling $118K

1 min read

A former Marion County Regional Airport treasurer has pleaded guilty to embezzling $117,696 from the county-owned general aviation facility, Arkansas State Police announced Wednesday.

Douglas Starkey, 66, of Yellville, pleaded guilty in Marion County Circuit Court to one count of felony theft of property and one count of felony abuse of office.

As part of his plea, Starkey was sentenced to six years of probation and ordered to pay full restitution to the airport.

State police arrested Starkey May 12 after an investigation into missing airport funds found that Starkey has stolen the money.

The airport on 80 acres in Flippin has one runway.
