FedEx Opens Little Rock Ground Facility, Employs 175

1 min read

FedEx Corp. of Memphis on Tuesday marked the grand opening of its new 303,000-SF Ground facility in southwest Little Rock, where the company employs 175 people.

Construction began at the 44-acre site in February 2015. The facility is now among 560 Ground distribution points operated by the publicly traded shipping and logistics company (NYSE: FDX).

The facility can process about 15,000 packages per hour. According to Regional Vice President Steve Griffin, over the last 10 years FedEx has more than doubled the volume of packages it ships.

“This new facility is a culmination of a long-time partnership between Little Rock and FedEx Ground,” Griffin said. “Bringing this facility to Little Rock took a lot of hard work.”

The facility’s local delivery area goes north as far as Bradford, as far south as Star City, as far east as Brinkley and as far west as Morrilton.

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said that, during the holidays, the center could employ as many as 250 people.

State Rep. Fred Love, D-Little Rock, represents the House district that includes the plant. He said the facility shows a dedication to technology, innovation and superior service.

The project was helped along by a $250,000 Economic Infrastructure Fund grant for infrastructure buildout that was matched by $250,000 from the city of Little Rock.

A company affiliated with FedEx purchased property for the center from R&D Holding LLLP, led by Don Thompson, for $3.38 million.
