First Financial Puts Future in Prospect

1 min read

Six months ago, First Financial Bank of El Dorado was keeping the location of its first full-service branch in Little Rock under wraps.

The $919 million-asset lender chose a familiar banking address to enter the market with a retail office: 1501 N. University Ave.

Over the years, the west side of the Prospect Building has served as a branch for financial institutions such as Little Rock’s Union National Bank and Worthen National Bank of Arkansas.

Federal Savings Bank of Rogers hung its banner there as well in 1994 until it was acquired by First Commercial Corp.

in March 1998, a month after the announcement of the $2.7 billion stock swap purchase of FCC by Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Alabama.

As mentioned here back in January, the Little Rock office marks the first full-service branch in Arkansas outside of Union County for First Financial.
