Longtime investment banker and financial adviser James Rouse, a former Razorback football player, has joined the Arkansas Securities Department as its education director.
Rouse has more than 25 years of experience in the securities industry, holding positions at Stephens Inc., Merrill Lynch, Valic Financial Advisors Inc. and U.S. Bancorp Investments. He’ll manage the department’s Investor Education Program, which aims to educate community, civic and senior groups in Arkansas about investing and securities.
“James will bring unique knowledge, skills and industry experience to the ASD Investor Education Program, and to our other agency division,” department Commissioner Eric Munson said in a news release. “He knows the financial markets and has specialized in advising clients in the education, healthcare and governmental sectors with wealth management planning.”
Rouse of Little Rock played running back for the Razorbacks from 1985-1989. He’s a member of Hogs’ All-Decade Team for the ’80s. He spent two seasons in the NFL playing for the Chicago Bears.
Rouse has volunteer experience in charitable organizations including the Arkansas Baptist College Foundation Board, Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class, and City of Little Rock Advisory Team.
“I am excited to be a member of a talented team of professionals, who are highly committed to protecting investors and supporting strong, safe markets,” Rouse said in the release. “I look forward to this new role to ensure ASD is on the front lines, educating investors, fighting fraud, and identifying and removing bad actors from the industry.”
