Former Rocktown Space to House $3.5M Rock Dental HQ

2 min read

The former Rocktown Distillery building at Sixth Street and Shall Avenue in Little Rock’s emerging East Village development will be renovated for an estimated $3.5 million into Rock Dental Brands’ new headquarters, which will be called The Distillery.

Arkansas Business first reported on those plans in its May 21 Whispers column.

The renovation will offer Rock Dental an additional 15,000 SF of space and accommodate about 100 employees. The project is set to begin in July and wrap up in early 2019.

Also, a coffee shop will open in the corner of the building facing Shall Avenue, to serve Rock Dental employees, parents dropping their kids off at the new eStem East Village Middle School and other customers.

“This is our company’s second major expansion in downtown Little Rock in less than three years,” Rock Dental CEO Merritt Dake said in a news release. “We’ve been looking for a place to accommodate our company’s growth, and we’re excited to find a new home in an exciting new development like the East Village.”

The Distillery is a joint venture of development services provider Newmark Moses Tucker Partners, Cromwell Architects Engineers and Rock Dental.

The general contractor for the project will be Hydco Inc., and construction financing is being provided by IberiaBank.

Rock Dental will move from its current headquarters at 610 President Clinton Ave., but keep that building, according to Jamie Moses, executive vice president of development at Newmark Moses Tucker Partners.

Rock Dental was founded in 1986 with two orthodontic clinics. The practices operated until 2012 as a small privately owned business. In 2012, a dental management company was formed to manage and operate them.

Rock Dental now manages and operates 74 clinics in three states.
