George Makris Jr. Named to St. Louis Fed Advisory Council

The board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis has appointed George Makris Jr., chairman of Simmons First National Corp. of Pine Bluff, to serve on the Federal Advisory Council for a one-year term that ends Dec. 31, 2023.

The Federal Advisory Council consists of one representative from each of the 12 Federal Reserve districts. Members confer at least four times per year with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., on economic and banking developments, and make recommendations on Federal Reserve System activities.

Makris was CEO of Simmons from 2014-2023. He moved to a role as full-time chairman on Jan. 1.
