Want to play up to 400 golf courses without having to carry a bag or battle the summer heat? You’re in luck.
Swing Social, a collection of golf simulators with a full-service bar and menu, is headed for the Marketplace Shopping Center on Rodney Parham Road with plans to open early next month.
The golfing venture is the brainchild of David Connell, an avid golfer and the owner of Homer’s Kitchen Table next door to the new golf business. Connell’s business partners in the venture are his son Chris Connell and Jason Neidhardt, who was formerly a partner in Little Rock’s Boulevard Bread Co. and Raduno Brick Oven & Barroom.
With Swing Social, Connell said he is aiming for a high-end Southern country club experience where visitors can play famous courses like California’s Pebble Beach Golf Links on simulators in the comfort of year-round 68-degree weather.
Connell said the concept has been popular in larger cities with brands like 5 Iron Golf, but Swing Social is not a franchise. Swing Social will feature five golf simulation bays that can accommodate up to eight players each. Golfers will be able to rent the bays for $50 an hour, allowing multiple golfers to play during the rented time. Memberships are also available.
Connell estimated the project has cost around $500,000 so far with the largest expense being the golf simulation bays, which cost about $50,000 apiece.
