The ATBI is a project created by the Arkansas Tech University business college and sponsored by Arvest Bank. It is a comprehensive measure that provides a snapshot of economic activity around the state.

The ATBI encompasses a labor index, housing market index, construction index and retail sales index based around 100. A city rating above 100 indicates that the city is currently doing better than the state average from 2009 to the present.

Other cities that experienced a rating increase of one point or greater in July 2016: Russellville (+1.61 points), Van Buren (+1.31 points), Conway (+1.10 points) and Pine Bluff (+1.10 points).

Rogers, Fayetteville, North Little Rock, Springdale, Mountain Home and Hot Springs also had ratings above 100 for July 2016.
