Hillary Clinton.
The 2015 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner will feature former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The dinner and a silent auction will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock.
“We are thrilled to have our former first lady, Hillary Clinton, home in Arkansas for this year’s JJ Dinner,” Vincent Insalaco, Democratic Party of Arkansas chair, said in a news release. “As Arkansas’ first lady, Hillary worked tirelessly to secure a better future for our children and families – a responsibility that she continued as the first lady of the United States, a U.S. senator, and as secretary of state. We are excited to welcome her to an Arkansas homecoming that celebrates both that progress and looks towards a hopeful future.”
Clinton, the wife of former Arkansas governor and President Bill Clinton, is seeking the Democratic nomination for president. The Jefferson-Jackson dinner is an annual fundraiser for the state Democratic Party.
Tickets are available through the DPA by e-mail and by calling (501) 374-2362.
Clinton’s appearance is scheduled just a few months after lawmakers approved moving up the state’s primaries from May to March next year. Supporters said the move would allow Arkansans to have a say in a race that features Clinton and former Gov. Mike Huckabee, who’s seeking the GOP nomination.
