Arkansas Realtors saw a 19.6 percent increase in the number of homes sold statewide in December, according to a report released Tuesday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.
The average price of homes sold in December fell by less than 1 percent compared to December 2014. The average price of the homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the Association decreased from $155,755 in December 2014 to $155,501 in December 2015.
The total value of sales statewide for the month, $392 million, was an increase of more than 19 percent from the same month a year earlier, the report said.

Benton County led the month in every category with greatest percentage change. There were 483 units sold in December in the county, up more than 37 percent from December 2014. For the full year of 2015, Benton County sold 5,320 units, up 12.6 percent from 2014.
Pulaski County also had a strong December, with home sales up 19.2 percent from the same month in 2014. But average prices in Pulaski County decreased by about 7 percent.
For the full year 2015, the average price for the entire state was $160,356, up 2.7 percent from 2014. Statewide, home sales for the year reached 31,470 units, up 10.6 percent from 2014.
