Hot Springs Film Festival Names Jennifer Gerber Interim Director

2 min read

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival on Wednesday named Jennifer Gerber interim executive director.

This will be her fifth year on the nonprofit’s staff, and she will lead the search for a permanent director.

“We are so grateful that Jen is willing to take the lead on the 2017 HSDFF and keep this transition as smooth as possible,” HSDFF Board Chairman Don Gooch said in a news release. “Her experience will help us continue to stage the well-regarded festival that our patrons have come to expect.”

The festival is set for Oct. 6-15.

The previous director, Courtney Pledger, left earlier this year after being selected by Gov. Asa Hutchinson to lead the Arkansas Educational Television Network. Pledger remains a consultant for HSDFF in her spare time.

Gerber most recently served as the festival’s technology director. She is also curator of Arkansas Shorts, director of the University of Central Arkansas Film Festival, assistant professor and undergraduate coordinator at UCA, creative mentor for the Sundance Film Festival Native Filmmaking Lab and an instructor of a low key arts/inception to projection class for high school students and adults.

Gerber has also been employed as print traffic manager and tech director for the Eureka Springs Indie Film Festival, media team director of the Little Rock Film Festival and interim director of the Columbia University Film Festival.

She has won several writing and directing awards.

Gerber earned her bachelor’s of arts in film and video from Columbia College Chicago and her master’s of fine arts in film writing and directing from Columbia University.
