Hutchinson Named Co-Chair of Delta Regional Authority Board

1 min read

Gov. Asa Hutchinson has been named the state’s co-chair of the Delta Regional Authority’s Board of Governors.

Hutchinson, a Republican, took over leadership last weekend from Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama and will serve alongside Chris Caldwell, the DRA’s federal co-chairman.

“DRA is grateful to have an experienced leader familiar with the challenges the Delta faces to serve as Arkansas’ co-chair,” Caldwell said. “His strong leadership will be a tremendous asset to DRA as we work with state and local leaders to grow jobs, improve lives and build communities in the region.”

Established in 2000 by Congress, DRA serves as a federal-state partnership that works with local development districts to “grow economic outcomes” and enhance the quality of life of the residents in the Delta.

DRA serves eight states and 252 counties and parishes, including 42 counties in Arkansas.

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve as a leader of the Delta Regional Authority, whose programs deliver targeted investments to encourage economic development and improve infrastructure across our region,” Hutchinson said in a news release. “DRA is supportive of the efforts to enhance infrastructure, support business development and workforce training for the eight states it serves. Arkansas is fortunate to be one of them.”
