IberiaBank Says Funeral Home Mortgage Payments Have Gone Cold

1 min read

The owner of a Little Rock funeral home is the subject of a foreclosure action filed by IberiaBank of Lafayette, Louisiana.

According to a complaint filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court, Tammy Gunn, the president of Presidential Funeral Homes of Arkansas Inc., which operates Gunn Funeral Home at 4323 W. 29th St., took out a mortgage on a promissory note with principal of $200,000 in August 2013 that allowed the bank to place a lien on the property.

The note matured on Aug. 6, and the bank demanded payment on Oct. 22. Interest has continued to accrue, and the funeral home also had an overdrawn commercial checking account, according to the complaint.

The foreclosure isn’t the only legal action IberiaBank has filed against Presidential. In October, the bank filed a complaint that said the business owed almost $37,000 in credit card charges and had last made a payment in April.

Presidential and Gunn have not responded to either complaint in court.

Derrick Gunn, the husband and business partner of Tammy Gunn, said in an interview that he was working with the bank on both complaints and that the business was not having financial trouble.

“We’re going to get it worked out,” Gunn said.

As is typical with banks, an attorney for IberiaBank declined to comment.
