Jacob Flournoy Recognized for UA System’s Internal Audit Department

Jacob Flournoy, internal audit director for the University of Arkansas System, has been selected to receive the American Institute of CPAs’ Outstanding CPA in Government Impact Award for impact on state government. The Outstanding CPA in Government Impact Awards recognize CPAs working in federal, state and local government who have contributed significantly to increased efficiency and effectiveness of government organizations and to the growth and enhancement of the CPA profession.

Flournoy received his BBA from the University of North Texas and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma. He was the 2014 recipient of the Arkansas Society of CPAs’ Outstanding CPA in Government Award.

As internal audit director for the University of Arkansas System, Flournoy monitors and analyzes the UA’s internal control structure and directs internal audits and coordinates external audit contracts over the UA System’s $3.8 billion in assets, $2.5 billion in revenue and $2.4 billion in expenses. Flournoy established the internal audit department for the UA System and has worked with the system’s trustees and senior management to develop charters for the University’s Audit & Fiscal Responsibility Committee and the Internal Audit Department. He also created the university’s fraud hotline and developed a risk-based audit universe for the UA System.
