1 min read

John Erck has been named vice chancellor of institutional advancement at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, effective Aug. 23.

Erck joins UAMS from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, where he is the senior director of development and external relations, a position he has held since 2013. He succeeds Angela Wimmer, who left UAMS in April.

Before joining the Walton College, Erck served as director of development for UA athletics for nearly four years. He came to the UA from Vanderbilt University of Nashville, Tennessee, where he was the director of major gifts and the associate director of athletic development.

Erck graduated from the University of Kansas’ William A. White School of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in business communication. He earned his master’s degree in sport administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he later worked as the assistant director of membership for the university’s Rams Club.

Earlier this year he earned a proven leader certificate from the Walton College.

Erck serves on the board of Economics Arkansas and the Donald W. Reynold Boys & Girls Club of Fayetteville. In 2014, Arkansas Business named him a 40 Under 40 honoree.
