Kevin Trainor has been hired as chief operating officer of the Arkansas Alumni Association, serving the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In this role, he will be dedicated to integrating outreach, engagement and communications for the association. Trainor will also lead a nine-member team focused on building programs and coordinating activities across the university, association and Division of Advancement. “Kevin brings a deep love for the University of Arkansas and a wealth of experience that will help strengthen the bonds between our alumni and their alma mater. His leadership, integrity and long-standing commitment to Razorback excellence make him the perfect fit for this important role,” UA Chancellor Charles Robinson said in a press release announcing Trainor’s hiring.
Trainor has worked for the University of Arkansas for more than 30 years, specifically in its athletics program. He served in the program’s leadership cabinet and led engagement efforts with student-athlete alumni. He spent 15 years as the sports administrator for Razorback baseball. Trainor has an extensive background in public relations with experience in executive and crisis management communication as well as communications strategy. He recently finished his term as president of the College Sports Communicators and remains on the organization’s board of directors. He has played an active role with the Southeastern Conference, serving as the SEC Football Media Days press conference moderator for 14 years.
Trainor graduated from the UA in 1994 with a degree in journalism and went on to earn his master’s degree in journalism from the university in 2005.
