KHLR 106.7 Names Robert Richardson New GM

1 min read

The Ride has a new man in the driver’s seat.

Robert Richardson has been named general manager of KHLR 106.7, the Little Rock country station known as The Ride.

It was a quick step up for Richardson, a Little Rock native who spent 20 years in television before moving into radio sales about a year ago with Signal Media of Arkansas. Signal owns KHLR and two other Little Rock FM stations, KABZ-103.7, The Buzz, and KKPT-94.1, The Point.

Richardson, a 1994 graduate of UALR and a “proud alumnus” of Hall High School, will continue as national sales manager for all three stations. He described a busy transition at KHLR, which shifted to a country format last year, but said radio wasn’t far different from his TV experience. “The job itself is similar, and you’re managing the same resources of on-air talent, sales, etc.”

Richardson, 52, began his career as research director at KARK-TV. After years of sales management jobs in television in the Midwest and Florida, he’s happy to be back home. “I grew up in a house a block away from Hall High, and I’m back in the house while it gets renovated. So I drive past the old school every day.”
