Kim Linam, the first woman to lead Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Co. as CEO, is retiring after a long utility career in Fort Smith as a civic leader and one of the forces behind integrating AOG with Summit Utilities Inc. of Colorado after a 2017 acquisition.
After that deal, she was Summit’s chief administrative officer, overseeing human resources, gas control, gas supply and information technology. In all, she spent nearly 20 years with AOG and Summit, taking roles in several service organizations in Sebastian County.
“Kim has been an influential leader of this company,” Summit President and CEO Kurt Adams said in a statement, adding that her time as CEO of Arkansas Oklahoma Gas “positioned AOG as the perfect partner for Summit.” He said her mentorship, “especially of the women on our team,” would be greatly missed.
The company press release, which noted that COVID-19 restrictions have upturned plans for celebrating the retirement, offered no statement from Linam, a certified public accountant and former chief financial officer of AOG. But it quoted Summit’s chief customer service officer, Fred Kirkwood, thanking her for her leadership and service to “AOG and the entire community of Fort Smith.”
