KUAR-FM, 89.1 has announced some programming changes during its “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered” broadcasts to allow the station more flexibility in airing regional news. The station announced it will now air state news headlines in the morning at 20 and 43 minutes past the hour and in the afternoon at 4:34 p.m. and 5:34 p.m.
The station will continue to air Arkansas news after national news at the top of each hour.
Program Director Nathan Vandiver said in an email that the changes would allow the station to distribute all its content, including news, weather and educational spots, throughout the hour.
“The motivation is to better fit modern listening habits. Basically, people still listen to the radio, but have more options for information, so spreading the newscasts (or news updates) throughout the hour in the morning will fit modern listening habits better by being a little shorter and providing more frequent opportunities for people to hear them,” Vandiver said.
