Legal Marijuana Sales Arrive at Little Rock’s Harvest House

2 min read

Harvest House of Cannabis, Little Rock’s first medical marijuana outlet, has opened at 900 Rodney Parham Road, culminating a three-year path to a retail cannabis market in Pulaski County.

Harvest Health & Recreation Inc. of Tempe, Arizona, which has a contract to operate the bright yellow dispensary off Interstate 630, announced the opening Monday morning in a news release.

It is the first of 33 licensed medical cannabis outlets in the state’s capital and major urban center. The dispensary, which changed its name from Natural State Wellness Dispensary, is according to state documents 51-percent owned by Henry Wilkins V.

Former Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is one of several owners with 6% stakes.

Harvest Health describes itself as a vertically integrated cannabis company “with one of the largest and deepest footprints in the U.S.”

The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division authorized Harvest Health to operate the outlet after a final inspection last week.

“At Harvest, high-quality products and operational excellence are paramount, and we are committed to delivering exactly that to the qualified patients and caregivers of Arkansas,” Harvest CEO Steve White said in a statement. “We are eager to operate within the state’s promising medical marijuana market and to be an integral part of its growth and success.”

Voters approved the production and sale of medicinal cannabis in November 2016, clearing the way to create a market that now includes nearly 40,000 Arkansans with state-issued cards certifying that they suffer from one of 19 qualifying conditions.

The Harvest House dispensary will sell nearly 125 different products, the company said, announcing hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

About a quarter-mile from Harvest House, the Herbology dispensary has received state clearance to open and will open this week at the owners’ discretion, state spokesman Scott Hardin said. A third dispensary, in Sherwood, is awaiting final clearance.

Counting announced acquisitions, Harvest has rights to operate 210 facilities nationwide, the company said, including about 130 retail locations.
