Lindsey’s Resort in Heber Springs Reopens With New Owners

2 min read

Lindsey’s Resort in Heber Springs has reopened under new ownership after a $3 million foreclosure lawsuit forced it to close in March.

Lindsey White, the resort’s general manager, announced the reopening on Thursday. The resort has hosted travelers from around the world who come to Arkansas to fish the Little Red River.

“It’s a special time for our family,” White said. “Growing up on the resort and working with my grandfather, I never imagined what this year would be like. We’re all excited to welcome back familiar faces and invite a new generation of visitors to Lindsey’s.”

After going through the foreclosure, the property was purchased in June by Brown Trout Inc. of Conway. Brown Trout’s ownership team manages hotel and restaurant properties in Arkansas and Louisiana.

“We didn’t really have a plan after it closed,” White told Arkansas Business on Thursday. “It only reopened due to the fact that they purchased it. They wanted to keep it going and upgrade it.”

White said he thinks this is the first resort that Brown Trout has managed.

White said the new owners have made upgrades to all the resort’s facilities but longtime Lindsey’s customers should still feel at home.

“We like to say that we’ve been here longer than the trout,” White said. “My grandmother actually put the first trout in the Little Red in 1967. Our guests benefit from all that tradition. But they are also going to enjoy a first-class modern resort experience.”

Cabin upgrades include new light fixtures, bedding and pillows. The resort also added new boat motors, purchased two new party barges and updated the RV and tent-camping area.

“Everything that needed to be replaced or fixed, we did that,” White said.

Located two miles downstream from the Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, Lindsey’s Resort offers a variety of lodging and campsites, a full-service restaurant, conference facilities and full dock and guide services. Founded by Billy Lindsey in 1965, Lindsey’s Resort is the oldest and only full-service resort on the Little Red River.

Lindsey’s Resort is now taking reservations and is celebrating their re-opening with fall specials on guided trips.

“We are back to business as usual,” White said.
