Little Rock’s advertising and promotion commission on Thursday recommended $5 million in renovations for the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Little Rock.
The move comes as a new leaseholder and management company is set to take on the property.
The commission reviewed a proposed amendment to the current contract and lease agreement of the DoubleTree Hotel and recommended its passage to the Little Rock city board of directors.
The new lease assignment would come with a product improvement plan entailing more than $5 million in renovations. In addition, the hotel will keep the DoubleTree flag, said Gretchen Hall, president and CEO of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.
If approved by the city board, Hall said the the new lease holder will be FAC-W Markham LLC; Waterford Hotel Group will be the new management company.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 6 at city hall.
