Lockheed Martin in Camden to Work $227M Contract

Lockheed Martin has won a $227 million contract from the U.S. Army for Lot 10 production of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Unitary, and the first order of GMLRS Alternative Warhead production.

Production on the contract will take place at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Camden, which has produced more than 25,000 GMLRS rockets.

“GMLRS is a combat proven precision-strike system,” Ken Musculus, vice president of Tactical Missiles for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, said in a news release. “We are confident that the new GMLRS Alternative Warhead will also provide reliable, highly accurate capability for our domestic and international customers.”

Included in the contract is a U.S. government Foreign Military Sale of GMLRS Unitary rockets to Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. GMLRS customers include the U.S., FranceGermanyItaly, U.K., JapanJordanSingaporeBahrain and the UAE.

GMLRS is an all-weather rocket designed for fast deployment. The company said it delivers “precision strike” beyond the reach of most conventional weapons.

The Alternative Warhead is designed to replace old MLRS submunition warheads.

This news come after the U.S. Army awarded a contract to build the military’s new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle to Oshkosh Corp. of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, beating out Lockheed Martin.
