Mark Barnett Added To Manage Audits at Jones & Co.

Mark P. Barnett Jr., a certified public accountant, has been hired as an audit manager with Jones & Co. Ltd. in Jonesboro. Barnett’s areas of expertise include external audits of small businesses, construction companies and financial institutions as well as small business consulting.

Patrick Deakins has joined the Rogers office of Beall Barclay & Co. PLC CPAs as a senior accountant, and Robert Floyd has joined the tax department in the Fort Smith office. Deakins has four years’ experience as a senior tax accountant with Keen & Co. CPAs PLLC in Springdale. Floyd previously worked for both Benefit Bank and BKD LLP of Fort Smith.

Health Care

Tim Hill was promoted Aug. 1 to vice chancellor for regional programs by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Hill had served as interim since the retirement in May of Dr. Mark Mengel. Hill was previously director of the UAMS Center for Healthcare Enhancement & Development since October 2013 and for more than two years before that he was director of the UAMS Center for Rural Health.

Dr. David Wiegel has joined the Women’s Health & Surgery Center at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. Wiegel received his B.S. degree from Arkansas Tech University at Russellville and his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock.

Dr. Rahim Khorassanizadeh has joined Sparks Health System’s thyroid and endocrinology clinic in Fort Smith. Khorassanizadeh is board certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in endocrinology. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Ryerson University of Toronto and recently finished his Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Center in Shreveport.

Education

Susan Atkinson was promoted to registrar and director of admissions at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia on Aug. 1. She succeeded Judy Jones, who retired after 20 years in that role. Atkinson, an OBU alumna, has served 11 years as administrative assistant to the dean of the School of Humanities was named Support Staff Member of the Year in 2012.

Government & Politics

HL Moody joined the Democratic Party of Arkansas as communications director in July. He succeeded Candace Martin, who assumed a new role as senior advisor to the chairman of the party.

Nonprofits

Liz Philpott of North Little Rock has been promoted to volunteer program manager for the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission. Philpott joined KAB in 2012 as volunteer services coordinator, and she will continue to direct the volunteer program and manage several engagement and educational efforts.
