2 min read

McKibbon Hotel Group’s new 89,000-SF, 116-room Homewood Suites opened Tuesday at the intersection of River Market and Capitol avenues in downtown Little Rock.

The hotel features kitchen-equipped one and two-bedroom suites, an outdoor pool and grilling area, a fitness center and meeting space.

“We put our first hotel here 14 years ago as the River Market District was being revitalized,” John McKibbon, chairman of McKibbon Hotel Group, said. “It was a little bit of a leap of faith but we were and are committed to revitalizing this are and this is now our fourth hotel.”

The hotel is designed to accommodate extended stays. McKibbon said that last year Little Rock hosted 5.7 million visitors and he expects Homewood Suites to have “no problem” filling up.

“There are lots of great businesses in the area, and on weekends there is always something going on,” McKibbon said. “The area is very walkable, there are bike trails, it’s great for fitness. It’s a great place.”

Greg Fernholz, an executive board member of the Arkansas Hotel and Restaurant Association, is the Homewood’s general manager

McKibbon Hotel Group is based in Gainesville, Georgia. Its affiliate, MHG Little Rock HM Ltd., bought Homewood’s 1.07-acre site for $2.25 million in 2014 from River Market South LLC, led by Jimmy Moses and Rett Tucker.

Clark Contractors of Little Rock was the project’s general contractor. Winford Lindsay Architect of Lawrenceville, Georgia, was the architect.

McKibbon manages three other downtown hotels within four blocks of the Homewood: the Courtyard by Marriott at 521 President Clinton Ave., the Residence Inn at 219 River Market Ave. and Hampton Inn & Suites at 320 River Market Ave.
