Did you know a Little Rock film production company is planning on finishing two documentaries next year?
Formed in 2017, Mudroom Films LLC of Little Rock expects to complete its “The ‘Vous: Memphis,” a documentary about the history and culture of Memphis through its famous barbecue joint The Rendezvous.
The other project is “Kings of Tort,” which will provide a look into the high-stakes, big-money consumer lawsuits, focusing on the talc cancer case against Johnson & Johnson, said Mudroom’s president, Jack Lofton.
Lofton, a former executive director of the Little Rock Film Festival who currently sits on the board of the Arkansas Cinema Society, said he hopes to create a sustainable film production company in Arkansas.
“And specifically, we’re working on documentary films that have some sort of an impact on a cultural or a social issue,” Lofton said.
Mudroom recently received $100,000 investment from an unidentified investor with $25,000 of that amount in cash and $75,000 in services, according to a U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission filing. Lofton said that sale represented less than a 25 percent stake in the company.
