Marc Mulherin has been named general manager of the Fort Smith Convention Center.
Mulherin began Jan. 4 after being chosen by the City of Fort Smith and Oak View Group Facilities, which took over operations of the center Jan. 1. Mulherin, a 20-year veteran of the hotel and convention center industry, comes to Fort Smith from Branson, Missouri, where he had run that city’s convention center since 2014.
“We are confident that Oak View Group is the right team to reestablish Fort Smith as a premier destination for meetings and conventions,” said Fort Smith City Administrator Carl Geffken. “Marc has a proven track record and an outstanding reputation for leading venues like ours to great success.”
Mulherin will oversee the marketing of the convention center and booking live entertainment, corporate and social events and meetings.
