After Alexis Jones of NextEra’s marketing and communications department commented on the Little River County solar farm, she noted that “NextEra Energy Resources and its subsidiaries have supported Arkansas’ economic growth and energy needs for nearly a decade.” It operates six utility-scale solar fields, including the recently commissioned Forgeview Energy Center, which sells the power it generates to Entergy Arkansas.
The Little Ashdown project is planned on privately leased land roughly 2 miles west of Ashdown’s city limits. “Engineering is ongoing, with final design work underway,” Jones said. “Energy from the project is planned to connect to the regional transmission grid through the local transmission infrastructure.”
Jones said NextEra held meetings with county officials to introduce the project, gather feedback and make adjustments. “The capital expenditure to build the project will be solely funded by the company. Community engagement efforts have included participation in a public hearing, meetings with the quorum court and county judge, and direct outreach to residents.”
Jones said the project is being designed and safety standards. “NextEra Energy Resources looks forward to continued collaboration with Little River County as the project advances.”
