NPR Gets Arkansas Techie Sam Hosington

1 min read

Newsroom colleagues at Arkansas Business Publishing Group applauded our 2017 summer intern, Sam Hoisington of Arkansas Tech University, for landing a plum internship at the Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington.

And Hoisington himself is impressed by his next job in Washington, as a social media intern at National Public Radio. One in 10 of NPR’s staffers are former interns, including stars like Audie Cornish and Ari Shapiro of “All Things Considered.”

“It’s an incredible opportunity,” said Hoisington, a Bentonville High School graduate who has a couple of classes to go at Tech. “I’ll do my best not to be starstruck.”

Hoisington was online editor of Arkansas Tech’s student paper, the Arka Tech, and interned at the South Arkansas Sun in Hampton. He has written for The Courier and the River Valley Leader, both in Russellville. On holiday break, he said, he’ll stop by the Sun “to make sure I’m not getting too big for my britches.”

He will start at NPR’s “new and spiffy” headquarters on North Capitol Street NE on Jan. 8.
