The entrepreneur support nonprofit Startup Junkie of Fayetteville is taking part in Global Entrepreneurship Week, an event where millions of people globally participate in activities, competitions and events designed to spur innovation and startups.
Global Entrepreneurship Week, or GEW, is scheduled for Nov. 13-16. During that week Startup Junkie will host events that “will offer exciting competitions, invaluable experience, a platform to share insights, and the crucial connections needed for success,” the organization said in a news release.
“We are excited to be a part of this worldwide movement that empowers entrepreneurs,” Caleb Talley, executive director of the Startup Junkie Foundation, said in a statement. “For the past 15 years, Startup Junkie has remained dedicated to assisting northwest Arkansas entrepreneurs in transforming their ideas into reality, and GEW presents the perfect occasion to advance that mission.”

Nov. 13
Coffee Crawl hosted by Onyx Coffee Labs will feature Jon Allen, co-owner of Onyx. Attendees can learn about the growth of the startup while sampling the business’ coffee.
An afternoon Lunch & Learn Series: Productivity and Workflow Workshop will focus on the benefits of an organized work environment, including improved time management, enhanced collaboration and optimized productivity. The event features the Organizer Chicks.
Nov. 14
A second Coffee Crawl event will take place at Arsaga’s Mill on School Avenue from 8 a.m.-9 a.m. Speakers include Bo Counts, founder of Pinpoint Bar of Fayetteville, and Deric Cahill, founder of Wicked Bold Chocolate and author of “Zero to Side Hustle.”
From 5:30-7:30 p.m., hear Mariano Quinones, founder of the Hunger and Action Gym, share his story about combining entrepreneurship with giving back to the community. Event will take place at the Hunger and Action gym in Springdale.
Nov. 15
1 Million Cups Bentonville networking event. Hear business pitches, provide feedback, enjoy free coffee and socialize. The event takes place from 8-9 a.m. at The Collaborative in Bentonville.
The Student Expo is a networking and inspiration platform for attendees and employers to meet student founders, vote for Startup Junkie’s “People’s Choice Award,” and network with leaders and innovators. The event takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the University of Arkansas’ Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub.
Nov. 16
IdeaFame Pitch Competition with Canopy NWA will take place at the Jones Center in Springdale from 5:30-7 p.m. Participants will have one minute to pitch business ideas for a chance to win one of two $1,000 prizes. Canopy NWA’s Entrepreneurship program accepts any foreign-born person with a passion to start a business to participate in their classes. Anyone is welcome to attend or register to pitch ideas.
