Bruce Jones and Scott Frederick
Director of Gaming Bruce Jones and Controller Scott Frederick have both been promoted to Oaklawn’s senior management team.
Jones initially joined the Hot Springs racetrack and gaming facility as game tech manager in 2008. He was promoted to assistant gaming manager in 2012, and to director of gaming in June 2016.
Before coming to Oaklawn, Jones was director of business development for the Little-Rock based EAST Initiative and served as chairman of the Engineering & Computer Science Department at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences & the Arts in Hot Springs.
He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Memphis, and a master’s in business administration from Webster University in St. Louis.
Jones also serves on the executive board of directors for the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce and on the board of directors of Arkansas Red Cross and Arkansas Community Health Centers. He also serves on the Governor’s Garland County Restore Hope Committee and is an adjunct business instructor at Henderson State University.
Frederick, who joined Oaklawn in September 2016, has more than 25 years of experience in accounting and financial services. He spent nearly 13 years at one of Arkansas’ largest publicly traded companies — ABF Freight and its parent company ArcBest Corp., both of Fort Smith — where he worked his way up the ranks from a financial reporting accountant to assistant controller.
Frederick later worked for New Prospect Co. of Fort Smith, a privately held oil and gas consulting company, for nearly seven years. After a year as the controller with New Prospect, he was promoted to senior vice president of finance and treasurer. Frederick earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Arkansas Tech University and began his career with Beall Barclay & Co. of Fort Smith.
Frederick is certified public accountant and a certified treasury professional. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Arkansas State Society of CPAs and the Association for Financial Professionals.
