1 min read

Oaklawn Racing & Gaming of Hot Springs said Bruce Jones, an employee since 2008, has been promoted to gaming director and will oversee the day-to-day operation of the entire gaming area.

Jones joined Oaklawn as director of gaming technical maintenance and was instrumental in implementing new games, keeping all games up and running and helping other properties establish gaming centers with Instant Racing machines, the thoroughbred race track said in a news release. He became assistant gaming manager in 2012.

“Bruce’s most recent promotion, one of several he’s received here at Oaklawn, is the product of hard work and a non-stop quest for learning more about our operation,” Director of Gaming and Wagering Bobby Geiger said in a news release. “Bruce has excelled wherever we’ve placed him. He’s also involved in the community and serves on the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce board of directors.”

Before coming to Oaklawn, Jones was director of business development for the EAST Initiative, a national educational-technology nonprofit, and was chairman of the engineering and computer science department at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts.

He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Memphis and an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis.

Outside Oaklawn, Jones serves on the board of directors for Healthy Connections Inc., a group of Arkansas community health centers.
