Phase One of Hot Springs’ New Biking Trail System Is Complete

1 min read

Phase One of Hot Springs’ new Northwoods Trail System is complete, giving the city 15.7 miles of “world-class” mountain-bike riding, Visit Hot Springs said Thursday.

Phase Two, when completed, will provide 44.6 miles of mountain bike trails that will be among the best in North America, CEO Steve Arrison said in a news release. A starting date on the construction of Phase Two will be announced at a later date.

In addition, the final segment of trail in the project, which is less than 10 minutes from downtown Hot Springs and is called Ragnarok, has opened.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association’s Trail Solutions crew built the Phase One trails and will begin working on improvements to 10 miles of traditional single-track cross-country trail in the connecting trail system at Cedar Glades Park.

“This is all so exciting for our community, our county, and our state,” Trails Coordinator Traci Berry said. “In the six months that the Northwoods trail system has been open, we have seen people from all over America and from other countries come to Hot Springs to ride our trails. On any given day, we will see at least two out-of-state license plates on vehicles parked at the trailhead.”
