Priority1: Easy Going and Positive

2 min read

Little Rock’s Priority1 takes the work/life balance of its employees seriously. You might even say the carrier logistics provider makes it priority No. 1.

The company’s leadership wants to make sure employees feel appreciated for their efforts and understand how vital a role they play in its success. It also wants them to look forward to coming to work. Mission accomplished: Priority1 is included among the 2015 Arkansas Business Best Places to Work.

“Work-life balance is very important at Priority1,” said Troy Lampley, the company’s financial assurance manager. “We have done our best to create an environment with a work hard, play hard mentality.”

That attitude is evident every summer at Dickey-Stephens Park when Priority1 sponsors an employee night at an Arkansas Travelers game. Priority1 has held one night at the ballpark for the last three years, with employee attendance increasing each year. This past summer, 63 employees brought family members to the park courtesy of Priority1.

Other employee perks include generous health-care benefits and profit sharing; casual Fridays and casual dress in general; employee birthdays and work anniversaries celebrated monthly with desserts for the entire office; breakfast is cooked for all employees occasionally; and on the last two days of each fiscal year, the company provides lunch for all employees.

The most popular employee event may be the Priority1 Christmas party, which has been held in Tunica. Employees get dinner, prizes are given away and karaoke is involved.

“Our employees really have a good time at this event,” Lampley said.

Priority1 is planning on hiring 30 news sales reps soon, and Lampley said being known as a “best place to work” is a nice selling point.

The more you can show you value your employees, the easier it is to attract talent.
