Provalus of Brewton, Alabama, an IT services company, announced plans Wednesday to invest $1 million in a location in Harrison.
The project is expected to create 150 jobs, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission said in a news release. The company will move into an existing building at 101 N. Main St. in downtown Harrison.
The office will be Provalus’ second in Arkansas. The company in September 2024 announced plans to open a location in Walnut Ridge, creating up to 200 jobs.
Provalus was founded in 2017. The company has 13 locations.
Part of Provalus’ mission is to onshore IT services that have been outsourced to overseas firms over the years. The company provides paid training programs that have elevated U.S. workers from jobs outside of technology to careers as technical support analysts, network operations and cyber security analysts, system engineers, and more.
“Every Provalus site reflects our belief that great careers and great communities can grow together,” Provalus President Mike Keogh said in the release. “Harrison, Arkansas is no exception. By creating high-value technology careers in Boone County we’re giving individuals the chance to build their futures without having to leave their hometowns.”
Provalus offers services in business optimization, cloud and infrastructure, data analytics and intelligence, cybersecurity, and application and product development.
The Harrison project qualified for the following state incentives: Advantage Arkansas, which provides state income tax credit for job creation based on the number of new employees hired as a result of the project; Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery, and equipment associated with the project; and a $375,000 Community Development Block Grant.
