Little Rock School District Students to Participate in Job Shadowing

1 min read

Seven primary sites across Pulaski County will host National Groundhog Job Shadow day on Feb. 2 in partnership with Junior Achievement Arkansas.

AT&T, Baptist Health College, First Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, Garver LLC, Meadors Adams & Lee and Regions Bank worked with the Little Rock School District to place 280 students.

The students will learn about career opportunities and how the skills they learn in school can be put into action in the fields of technology, finance, insurance, engineering, health care, telecommunications, public service and energy.

“Job shadowing is a great way to learn from others in the role, gain perspective from their experience and get a true feel for that particular job, company and industry,” said Chad Kauffman, president of Junior Achievement Arkansas. “Working with LRSD, we realized quickly the value a job shadow day would have with these students and extend the impact the schools are already making with them.”

The high school students all participate in the school district’s Career and Technical Education courses, which provide specialized training and real-world work experience.

The students participating in National Job Shadow Day attend Hall High School, McClellan High School, Parkview High School, Little Rock Central High School, J.A. Fair High School or Metropolitan Career Technical Center.
