Realtors: Arkansas Home Sales Up 13 Percent in September

Arkansas home sales increased by more than 13 percent in September while the price of those homes went up by more than 2 percent, according to data released Wednesday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The average price of the homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the association increased from $157,123 in September 2014 to $160,508 in September 2015. Meanwhile, statewide valuations in September increased by more than 15 percent from 2014.

Benton and Pulaski counties reported the most units sold for September. The top five counties for units sold:

  • Benton: 487 units sold, up 23 percent from the 397 sold in September 2014.
  • Pulaski: 469 units sold, up 16 percent from 406.
  • Washington: 257, up 31 percent from 196.
  • Saline: 167, up 4 percent from 161.
  • Sebastian: 135, up 17 percent from 115.

Statewide totals reported by the association were 2,859 units sold, up 13 percent from the 2,525 units sold in September 2014.

Benton and Pulaski counties also saw the highest average home prices in September. The top five counties for highest average home price:

  • Benton: $199,790, up 0.7 percent from $198,441 in September 2014.
  • Pulaski: $192,241, up 6 percent from $181,621.
  • Washington: $190,934, up 12 percent from $170,514.
  • Cross: $173,880, up 11 percent from $156,264.
  • Saline, $173,819, down 0.8 percent from $175,245.

The statewide average for September, according to the group, was $160,508, up 2 percent from $157,123.
