Arkansas State University in Jonesboro has announced the following recipients of the 2021-22 Faculty Achievement Awards:
  • Andrea Brown, assistant professor of occupational therapy;
  • Elizabeth Hood, Lipscomb distinguished professor of agriculture;
  • Zahid Hossain, associate professor of civil engineering;
  • H. Steve Leslie, assistant professor of business communication;
  • Rasoul Narimari, assistant professor of electrical engineering;
  • and Alexandr Sokolov, assistant professor of engineering management.

Dr. Julie Riley has been hired as associate professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine Department of Urology in Little Rock. Riley is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Michael Hargis, dean of the College of Business at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, has been selected to receive the 2022 Outstanding Dean Award from Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor organization for accounting and financial information students and professionals.


Gizachew Tiruneh, a professor at UCA, has been recognized by the Crown Council of Ethiopia with the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Star of Honour of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian imperial title of “Blaten Geta.” Tiruneh has been working closely with the Crown Council of Ethiopia, helping with writing and editing documents in both the Amharic and English languages.
