Russ Harrington Receives American Hospital Association Board of Trustees Award

Russ Harrington, president and CEO of Baptist Health, will receive the American Hospital Association‘s 2014 Board of Trustees Award.

Harrington will receive the award at a ceremony at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting on May 5 in Washington, D.C.

The award is given to individuals or groups who have made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the work of AHA.

“Russ has been diligent in his efforts to promote better public health and has worked tirelessly on behalf of hospitals,” AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock said in a news release. “His involvement in policy and leadership programs for the American Hospital Association spans more than 25 years and the AHA is honored to recognize Russ’ contributions to the AHA with the Board of Trustees Award.”

Most recently, Harrington served on the 2013 Medicare Disproportionate Share Hospital Advisory Group. He has also served on the Task Force on Delivery System Fragmentation and the Section for Health Care Systems Governing Council, among others.

Harrington, who will retire from the CEO post on July 1, is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and Baptist Health Foundation board member. 

AHA is a nonprofit association for health care provider organizations and individuals throughout the country.
