Ruthanne Hill to Retire as Head of Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund

1 min read

Ruthanne Hill, executive director of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund for more than a decade, announced her retirement effective June 1.

The nonprofit said a nationwide search has begun to find her successor.

During her tenure, Hill led the organization’s transformation from a network of 62 semi-autonomous county-based affiliates to an integrated statewide organization operating in 10 multicounty regions with consistent eligibility criteria, application processes, and scholarship amounts, the organization said in a news release.

In Hill’s 11 years as ASPSF leader, the nonprofit distributed more than 17,000 scholarships benefiting over 26,000 single parents and their children. Professional development and financial education received an elevated focus to better prepare each graduate to manage their new career and income, while increased staff gave single parents additional personal support in their educational journeys.

“Ruthanne will leave behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and impact that will resonate for years
to come,” Sunshine Bartlett, president of the ASPSF board of directors, said in a statement. “While her departure marks the end of an era,
it also signifies a new chapter of growth and regeneration for our organization.”

ASPSF has contracted professional executive search firm The Moran Company of Leawood, Kansas, to find the organization’s next leader. A search committee including Hill and ASPSF board members, staff, and donors will make the final selection.
