The Southern Arkansas University System announced Tuesday that it has streamlined the path between criminal justice programs at its two campuses.
Students graduating from SAU-Tech in Camden with an Associate of Arts in general studies – law enforcement will now be able to transfer “seamlessly” into the BS in criminal studies program at the SAU campus in Magnolia, the university said in a news release.
The news release said the collaboration will increase graduation rates and maintain a high-quality working relationship between the two institutions.
Trey Berry, president of SAU, credited Jason Morrison, who took over as chancellor of SAU Tech in January, for the collaboration.
“This is yet another example of the energy and innovation created by Dr. Jason Morrison and his new leadership at SAU Tech. We are excited to expand the ways in which students can pursue higher degrees within the SAU System,” Berry said.
David Lanoue, provost and vice president for academic affairs at SAU said the two institutions will continue to explore other potential partnership opportunities between the two campuses.
“We are very pleased to make this new opportunity available to students in our region,” Lanoue said. “As we build on our already strong relationship with SAU-Tech, we will continue to explore partnerships that will allow students to complete their degrees in four years and move on to personally rewarding careers.”
SAU and SAU Tech have similar academic agreements in teacher education, business administration, welding and automated and robotic engineering.
