Developer Plans 170,000-SF Shoppes at Benton for Spring 2017

1 min read

Developers are planning a new, 170,000-SF retail center with about 20 stores west of Alcoa Road on the north side of Interstate 30 in Benton.

Construction is scheduled to begin on the Shoppes at Benton by March 2016. The center is aiming for an opening the following spring.

According to GBT Realty of Brentwood, Tennessee, the project developer, the project will include more than 975 parking spaces.

The 23-acre area is adjacent to the Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership along the 1-30 frontage road. Developers hope to draw customers from more than 40,000 households within a 10 mile radius.

“The retail here is going to be very strong,” Benton Mayor David Mattingly told Arkansas Business. “It’s not anything that’s here currently. It’s beginning to make Benton a destination — a retail shopping destination.”

No stores have been confirmed, but Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx and Home Goods have been floated as possibilities.

“We’re excited, we’re Benton proud,” Mattingly said. “We’re going to have some very, very nice new stores.”
